Isle of Klezbos, the soulful, fun-loving powerhouse klezmer sextet approaches tradition with irreverence as well as respect. Formed in 1998, the frolicsome six-piece women’s band soon became an acclaimed, dancing-in-the-aisles hit. Based in New York City, they have toured from Vienna to Vancouver with a repertoire that ranges from rambunctious to entrancing: neo-traditional folk dance, mystical melodies, Yiddish swing, retro tango, late Soviet-era Jewish drinking songs, re-grooved standards and genre-defying originals.
